2. Data Access Requests (DARs)

Access to all DPUK data resources is provided through a Trusted Research Environment (TRE) that rigorously adheres to the Five-Safes framework. This approach ensures that data access is safe for people, projects, settings, data, and outputs. Consequently, researchers seeking access must follow a structured application process designed to promote ethical and appropriate data use, with the ultimate aim of benefiting patients. The process also ensures that researchers are fully aware of the safety protocols and requirements associated with working within the DPUK TRE.

You can submit a Data Access Request (DAR) via DPUK data portal page. The application should be comprehensive, outlining your research objectives, the specific datasets needed, and your intended analytical methods. Each application undergoes review by the Information Governance Review Panel (IGRP), which evaluates the scientific merit, ethical compliance, and alignment of the proposal with the platform’s goals. Upon approval, you will gain secure access to the data under strict governance policies, ensuring participant confidentiality and data integrity are maintained at all times.

The following guidance provides you with required details in your DARs application.
